This machine holds the public IP. It answers web traffic and hosts the admin site unless you put the admin site on a different box later.
Before you start
- A Windows computer that stays on.
- An administrator account on that computer.
- The installer from the Download button above.
- A Daisinet email you can receive a sign-in code on.
If this is your only computer, pick Solo in step 4 instead of Lead. Solo is lead and node together.
Download the installer above, then:
Install
- Unzip it. Right-click Setup.exe → Run as administrator.
- Leave Install the control plane (admin site) checked.
- Leave Start services when install finishes checked.
- Select Lead (or Solo on a single machine).
- Leave the directories on their defaults unless you have a reason to change them.
- Click Install and wait until it finishes.
- Setup opens the admin site. If it does not, go to http://127.0.0.1:7001 on this computer.
- Enter your Daisinet email. Press Enter.
- Open the code that arrives. Type it. Press Enter.
- The first person to complete this becomes Owner of this install.
You should see the dashboard: sites, nodes, settings. If the page does not load, the control plane service is not running. In Services, start srvd-control.
Public internet
The lead needs your public IP pointed at this computer, and these ports open on the router to this computer:
| Port | Why |
|---|---|
| 80 and 443 | Websites. |
| 25 | Incoming mail, only if you will run mail. |
On the local network, other SRV computers talk to the lead on port 7443. That port does not need to be open on the internet.
One computer vs two
Solo is enough to publish a static site and to try the admin UI. Add a node when you want a second machine to run sites, or when you plan to run mail (mail is pinned to one worker).
